San Antonio Visit

Well, for some reason the blog is not letting me move my pictures around. Therefore, you will see our trip from end to beginning.

We had a long day on Saturday, but it was so much fun. We went to San Antonio Friday afternoon to visit with my Mom and Sisters. Saturday we went to the zoo. After the zoo, we went to Celene's house and had pina coladas and pizza. We enjoyed the evening on the porch and watched lots of birds. Ainsley was worn out from the zoo and was napping.
We saw zebras, a giraffe ( see behind us), an elephant, lions, bears, hyenas, ostrich, kangaroos ( Ainsley loved them), birds, monkeys, rhinos and hippos. The rhinos were getting sprayed with water- they really seemed to enjoy it. Most of the other animals were sunning themselves. We were at the zoo for about 4 hours and Ainsley stayed up right until the end when she fell asleep in my arms. We did not see the entire zoo- it was simply too big. Ainsley loved the animals- she was pointing at them and mmming, smiling and clapping. It was so cute.
The hippos were the highlight of the day. The SA Zoo built a new area to house their hippos with an underwater viewing area for the visitors. We went in and saw lots of fish but nothing else in the tanks in front of us. There were not many people in there initially we went right up to the glass. While we were standing there, the two hippos came into view and walked right by us! They were amazing! They were sniffing the sides of the tank and seemed to be looking right at us. It was so neat to see them swimming/walking/bouncing in the water, just inches from us. Ainsley thought it was awesome and she kept touching the glass and clapping.

The funny part was that both hippos took a big poop while walking in front of us. The second hippo was right behind the first and ate some of hippo number one's poop- drawing a big EEWWW from the crowd and making us laugh. Then he stuck his nose up out of the water, perhaps regretting his position right behind hippo number 1.
They also had a butterfly habitat that you could go in. Ainsley loves butterflies and says bu - fly when she sees them. Too bad she didn't know there was one on her head.
