A fun trip to the mailbox

Yesterday I received a nice surprise when I went to get the mail. There was a package waiting for me from one of my Aunts. I rushed home and opened the box. I found my first baby gifts! There were receiving blankets, onesies, hoodies and washrags, and a swaddle me blanket. Everything was so cute! There were ducks and frogs and most of the colors were neutral yellow and green which I like, I don't want everything to be pink. Very fun.

I also wanted to post a picture of the painting that my Mom did for us. Dan and I got engaged on the hill overlooking the 360 bridge 6 years ago in August. When we got married, my Mom said she would do a painting for our house. Dan asked if she would do a painting of the 360 bridge overlooking Austin. We went up there with her and took some pictures a few years ago. My Mom is a wonderful artist and we have several of her things up around our house. We were about to give up hope on receiving this wedding painting since it has been over 4 years. Well, she came through for our new house! I think the painting is awesome and will look great above our fireplace. It is large too- 30" x 40". We only have a picture for now, she will bring the actual painting when she visits this fall.

These are a few other of her nice watercolor paintings.

These two are Arkansas settings.

The bottom picture is from a mural she did for a school play. It covers the entire stage. I wish she had more time to paint- she doesn't do it enough. Hope you enjoyed the pictures!

Your mom's painting is awesome. I love the sky! What a treasure.

BTW, your aunt's package is only the first in an avalanche of gifts you are going to get. Babies inspire generosity in all kinds of people, including friends of your parents who have never even met you.

Enjoy the bounty.

I love the pictures. My mom too paints (oils) and all the walls in my house have her paintings on them too. I just wish I had the talent to paint. I have done a couple of paintings in my time but..nothing like your moms or mine.

Your mom's paintings are awesome! I'd love to have one of her paintings in my house (if I ever get one). I can't wait to get you something girly for the baby!

Wow, your mom really is talented. I LOVE the colors she used in the 360 bridge painting. Can't wait to see the real thing in person.

I second Jennifer's comment. We barely had to buy a thing for Faith. We actually spent the most money on James. The more babies you have, the more the generosity slips off. And by #3, a lot of the baby stuff we had for Faith needed replacing. Thank goodness for Craig's list!
