Week 15

I had by OBGYN check up yesterday. Everything went fine and was as expected for this time in my pregnancy. All of my lab results came back and things were normal/negative. I thought it was interesting that after working in the veterinary field for about 9 years ( counting school, etc) that my Toxoplasmosis titer was negative. Completely negative, meaning I have never been exposed.

The doctor said that I should be able to feel the baby moving in the next few weeks which is really exciting. I think that will be an amazing feeling. I have found myself waking up in the night and just laying there with my hand on my stomach trying to recognize the sensation of a moving baby.
My doctor is very conservative and fairly strict in his beliefs of protecting the baby and taking it easy and careful during pregnancy. Initially when we met, we talked for about an hour and a half about all the things I shouldn't do and shouldn't eat. With my job, there was an additional 20 minutes on what I should and shouldn't do at work. He felt I should not see sick patients at all, not really very realistic in veterinary medicine. Well, yesterday, he asked me how my job was going and if I was avoiding sick patients, etc. I said- I try to avoid the sickest. Not quite true, but I don't feel I have seen anything too wierd or sick lately. It just doesn't really sound feasible to not see sick patients. Then of course, there are the ones that appear healthy that could very easily be carrying diseases. I think I made him feel a little better when I told him that I try to wear gloves when dealing with the sicker patients and when dealing with body excretions, etc. I make myself feel a little better about continuing my job by thinking of all the female veterinarians I have known who have worked through pregnancy.

Our house is coming along nicely. They have done a lot in the interior- the doors and frames are up, the baseboards are up, they painted the walls and trim, some of the crown molding is up, and they put in our fireplace. They also built us some really nice raised flower beds in the backyard that match our house stone. They have also done the sidewalk and most of the driveway. I will try to take some current pictures and post them later.
Here are some pictures of the inside prior to painting.

That is interesting about your dr. My first obgyn was more relaxed, maybe because she had also had 2 babies while practicing. I remember after we asked her what about this and what about that, she made me feel a lot better when she said, "As in the rest of life, most things during pregnancy are safe."

Thank goodness we don't have to worry about all those human contagious diseases! Still, we should all wear gloves more often!

Somewhere along the way I learned to keep my mouth shut when talking to this dr. It was basically a "don't ask, don't tell" policy on my end. Use common sense at work, and everything will be ok.

The house is looking awesome! Can't wait to see it in person.
