Spa Day

Yesterday I had a wonderful day at an Austin Spa located on Lake Travis. One of the veterinary companies, Purina, hosted a women's spa day. I was able to switch shifts with Dr Werner so that I could attend, as I usually work Wednesdays.

The spa was located on a hill overlooking the lake, a very beautiful and peaceful setting. We had a short meeting, then I had my massage. I got a prenatal massage- I was so excited to see that on our treatment options! I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was really wonderful. I laid on my side for the massage, hugging a body pillow- just like I sleep at night. the massage itself seemed just like a swedish massage, but I was on my side. The massage therapist was wonderful and did a great job. She focused on my legs/hips which have been giving me problems at night. I keep waking up with very sore hips from laying on my side- especially the night before, I slept very fitfully. ( last night I slept great) Anyway, it was such a soothing atmosphere- the dimmed lights, the music, the body pillow and the massage, I really felt like I could fall asleep.

After my massage, I went outside (in my new maternity bathing suit) and sat by the beautiful pool, overlooking the lake. It was a really pretty day- sunny and clear blue skies, but breezy and not humid. I brought a book to read and just relaxed. We had a nice buffet style lunch and chat, then we were on our own for the afternoon. I went back to the pool with Jennifer and we swam for a while. I can't swim nearly as long as I used to without getting out of breath, but it was still great exercise.

It was a really wonderful, relaxing day. Everyone should treat themselves to a day like that at least once a year.

Maybe all the BAH women should treat ourselves sometime and go for a day...
