5 weeks old

We don't have too many pictures to post this week, here are a few.

My sister Celene and her friend Angel visited over the weekend. We had a great time with them. The weather was awesome so we went on a nice walk. Ainsley loves her baby bjorn carrier and loves being outside. Then we sat out back on our porch and sipped some wine in the evening. We grilled amazing fillet mignon steaks and completed the meal with broccoli salad and baked potatoes. Then we had brownies and ice cream for dessert. We watched a movie- 3:10 to Yuma- pretty good. Celene enjoyed spending time with Ainsley, and I enjoyed a little extra freedom. Angel would not hold her saying she is too little- he will wait until she is closer to 9 months old. He did bring her some adorable outfits- including an I love Puerto Rico shirt- pictured below!

Ainsley has started grabbing tightly onto my hair and fingers.

Ainsley has also started to look directly at my face and she seems to focus pretty well. Last night she smiled directly at me for the very first time. I actually got 3 smiles in a row. It changed the whole look of her face and made me feel great!

Animal stories:
This morning, I actually had time to cut a bagel, toast it, lather it with cream cheese and eat about 3/4 of it before duty ( Ainsley) called. I left the rest of it on the coffee table to eat after I fed the baby. While feeding the baby- she filled her diaper. I took her to change her in the other room. When I returned, I noticed my bagel was gone. Remi looked guilty, but not remorseful. She has no idea how hard it is to actually get that bagel ready and then eat it.

Brie loves the changing pad- she sleeps on it all the time, especially at night. she is very dozy and reluctant to move when I come in with the baby. Sometimes, I place the baby on the pad with her- that usually gets her off quickly as Ainsley is usually kicking and sometimes crying. Dan actually put Ainsley on the pad and laid her head on Brie's belly. Ainsley turned her head and was searching for food in Brie's coat. Pretty funny. Brie left the table.

I typically get up in the night to feed Ainsley by myself. However, sometimes, Brie will join me. Remi just sleeps. One night last week, the last feeding before bed, I had the boppy and Ainsley on my lap covered with a nice warm blanket - that also covered my legs. Brie joined us. She jumped on the couch and was trying to find a place on my lap and on the blanket. No belly anymore, but there is usually a baby where the belly used to be- poor Brie. Well, she found a place to the side of the baby that was still on me a little but mainly on the boppy and the blanket. I got up a few minutes later and I slid out from under the boppy and blanket so that I didn't disturb Brie. Brie ended up in the middle of the boppy on the blanket. She stayed there all night- I used a pillow instead of the boppy for the other feedings. She was quite content. I wish I had taken a picture.

Brie sounds like such an awesome cat. Hopefully she is bonding w/ Ainsley now and won't be too disturbed when she starts pulling on her fur!

Baby smiles are the greatest! Wait until she starts giggling...

I posted your pictures you emailed us at work and we all started laughing, because of course, everyone noticed Brie first! They also freaked out about how much your sister looks like you!
