So I went to my Doctor's office yesterday for the Diabetes screen. For those of you who have not done it- you have to drink 50 grams of Dextrose- serious sugar. Then you have to have your blood drawn 1 hour later to see if your body is handling sugar and producing enough insulin. A lot of pregnant women develop Gestational Diabetes.
While there, I was informed that my doctor is closing his practice, and moving to Houston to teach. Effective Dec 1. Ahhhh, what does that mean? Well, it means I now have to find a new doctor ( at 27 weeks pregnant), who will deliver at Seton Southwest, and accept me as a new patient this far along. I was given a list of the people he shares on call with and told they were aware of the situation and should be willing to take us on this late. I am really frustrated, and a little mad. I thought I had things figured out, I liked my doctor, I liked knowing him and him knowing me well. A little more notice would have been nice, as I am sure this has been in the works a while.
Anyway. Deep breath. Positive thoughts- maybe I will get another ultrasound out of the deal.
I went to work this morning and saw lots and lots of cats. Both Dr Laukkanen and I saw mostly cats, we each saw only 2 dogs. Strange, but at least they were all really nice cats!
Dan and I watched the UT football game this afternoon- pretty frustrating, but with a happy ending. Even though UT didn't look all that great for most of the game.
I thought I would show a picture of Dan's last weekend project- moving 8 tons of rocks to the backyard. He and his Dad did it in 4-5 hours of hard work. I was really impressed ( it was done by the time I got home from work last Saturday). Now there isn't nearly as much mud for Remi to bring inside. The back yard is starting to look good.

That totally sucks about your dr. I hope you can find a good one. The 3 ob-gyns I dealt with were all great, but none of them deliver down south. (probably a good thing for Colin's birth!)
If Dr. Lisa Schneider is on that list--she's fantastic. Snag her if you can. She works out of Seton Southwest.
You would think that your doctor would have given a little more notice. That's just rude!
